The Rosensteiner hoof care stand in use at Schneiderlehen KG's Highland cattle breeding
Since September, the organic farm Schneiderlehen KG has been using the specially adapted RED 5 hoof care stand for its Highland cattle.
Andreas Rosensteiner personally visited the farm in October to get an idea of the successful implementation.
Family business with a heart for Highland cattle
The Schneiderlehen KG farm, run by Helga Krückl, has been dedicated to Highland cattle breeding for over 25 years. The herd comprises 40 animals, including 11 mother cows, which are kept in a species-appropriate and natural manner on the organic-certified farm. "Highland cattle have a special originality and are very social animals. It is a pleasure to work with them," explains Krückl, who is involved in breeding with heart and passion.
Special requirements for the hoof care stand
With their characteristic long horns and soft, fluffy fur, Highland cattle have special requirements for the care stand. The RED 5 hoof care stand was specially optimized by Rosensteiner for this purpose. Adjustments such as a special hind foot lock for smaller animals and a crossed and proven chest strap system provide additional stability and prevent the animals from bending their knees. These modifications ensure gentle and safe care that ensures the well-being of the animals.
Fixed care area for smooth processes
The integration of the RED 5 in a fixed care area enables optimized organization of hoof care. The RED 5 is positioned so that the cattle from both herd groups can be easily driven there during the daily routine. A suitable fence and weather protection round off the area so that the animals can move around stress-free thanks to their daily familiarity. "This fixed place is now a familiar story for the cattle, and they go through it without fear because they know the place from their daily routine," explains Krückl.
